Modelo has officially surpassed Bud Light as the nation’s top beer.
According to Nielson, Modelo raked in $341 million in May compared with $298 million from Bud Light.
The success of Modelo comes as the company continues to market to Latinos in the Southwest, which is predominantly comprised of Mexican Americans.
On the other hand, Bud Light sales have dropped in wake of continued boycotts after partnering with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.
Overall, Bud Light sales are down more than 10% compared to the same time last year.
Modelo, which is owned by Grupu Modelo, has run numerous successful ad campaigns spotlighting Chicano culture, including one with Mister Cartoon which ran during the Super Bowl.
